Parameter ontology annotations

Parameters for data which is to be analysed are marked for annotation. These parameters have ontology terms assigned against them to define any phenotypes identified. The ontology terms associated with parameters can be viewed by clicking on a parameter name which will then list the ontology terms to be used depending on what kind of difference is detected (increased, decreased or abnormal).

Several different ontologies are used depending on the data. The data for most procedures is annotated with the Mammalian Phenotype (MP) ontology. Other ontologies include PATO, Mouse Embryology (EMAP), Adult Mouse Gross Anatomy (MA). As ontologies can be mapped against each other this allows cross-species comparisons and identification of phenotypic human disease models.
